The Illinois Police Memorial is held on the first Thursday of every May. The memorial honors those that have given their all. There is usually a large gathering on Wednesday night where we all get together and toast our fallen comrades, Thursday morning we gather at the Illinois State Fairgrounds. A procession then rides to the church and after a service at the church, the procession proceeds to the state capital for ceremonies.

The procession is lead by the Illinois State Police motorcycle officers followed by the Gold Star families, followed by squad cars and officers from departments placing names on the wall, followed by the Blue Knights (in uniforms if you are active or Blue Knight vests if you are retired or have no uniform) on motorcycles and then followed up by squad cars from throughout the state. We usually average 200-300 units.

All police officers, active or retired are invited to attend.
