Obituary

Kathie A. (nee: Harris) Glenzer 71, died on December 27, 2014 after a battling heart and lung disease which had taken a turn for the worse over the last five weeks. She was born in Columbus Ohio on December 10th, 1943. Kathie Graduated from St. Joseph Academy high school, Columbus, Ohio in 1961. She was employed with the City of Racine as police dispatcher for over 32 years.

A devoted wife for 39 years to Roy R. Glenzer and devoted mother, step-mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Tragically, Kathie lost an infant son in 1966, and lost her adult daughter Melissa Decker in 2009. Kathie dealt with those losses with strength and grace and stepped in to care for Melissa’s three children. Kathie was a caring mother, step mother and grandmother. She took pride in teaching her children and grandchildren the importance of good manners and social graces. Kathie was a loving and social person. She made friends easily with anyone she came into contact with and was the life of the party in any gathering. She enjoyed estate sales, loved her pets particularly her little dog Sassy, and most of all loved being the person her husband Roy and her grandchildren Andrew, A.J. and Alissa relied on. Kathie’s spirit can best be described as fun, witty and exuberant! She believed life was short and the most important thing was to enjoy every moment. She relished the journey and was never preoccupied with the destination. She embraced her Irish Heritage and indicated her husband and step-children joined her in that blessing as she considered them to be Irish by Marriage.

Kathie was predeceased by her parents John Howard and Lucille Harris of Columbus Ohio. She is survived by her husband Roy R. Glenzer of Racine; grandchildren Andrew Decker, A.J. Decker and Alissa Decker of Racine. Her Step-daughters Kelly (Bob Mould) Glenzer-Mould of Racine, Kimberly Glenzer of Rochester, N.Y., Kerry Glenzer of Racine; and many step-grandchildren and great grandchildren.
